Kirov State Medical University was established on 1987.  Today, The University is a modern, dynamically developing university that successfully integrates scientific, educational and medical activities, it is the largest scientific, educational and medical complex in the Kirov region, it is a team of highly qualified teachers, scientists, doctors.

 

The university has formed well-known scientific schools in the country: rheumatology (professor B.F. Nemtsov), surgery (professors V.A. Zhuravleva and V.A. Bakhtina), pediatrics (Professor Y.Yu. Illek), obstetrics and gynecology (professor S.A. Noble), social medicine, medical ecology and hygiene (Professor B.A. Petrov), neurology and neurosurgery (professor B.N. Bain). In 2005, V.A. Zhuravlev, who is at the origins of the creation of the Kirov State Medical Academy, Honored Scientist of Russia, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, laureate of prestigious international prizes, honorary citizen of the Kirov region, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, was awarded the title of "Honorary Rector of the Kirov State Medical Year after year, the university is confidently expanding its "geographical boundaries." The university has students from various regions of Russia and other countries: Sudan, Mongolia, Vietnam, Syria, Pakistan, Peru, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine. The University has opened an Anatomical Museum, which presents more than 1,000 exhibits. In 2005, the Museum of the History of the University was opened, which reflects the stages of formation of the university, the development of scientific schools, and the strengthening of international cooperation.

 

The material and technical base is constantly updated. Students are engaged in equipped classrooms, computer classes equipped with modern office equipment. The scientific library of the university has a book fund of more than 200 thousand copies, an educational media library and an electronic database. The Center for Manipulative Skills allows students on fakes to hone their ability to give injections, do artificial respiration, heart massage and much more.

 

Non-resident students of Kirov State Medical University live in 3 comfortable dormitories. The construction of a new 15-storey dormitory building will be completed in the near future. The university has a food processing plant, its own printing house equipped with modern printing equipment. 

 

The University actively cooperates with all regional and municipal medical institutions of the city of Kirov. The structure of the university has its own clinic, which includes a 100-bed therapeutic and neurological hospital, as well as a consultative and diagnostic department. The university clinic and polyclinic are equipped with the latest equipment, modern repairs have been made in wards, laboratories and treatment rooms.
